Recommendations for experiencing the benefits of Breathwork

Our bodies have their own inherent wisdom, and the breath will always take you where you need to go. Ultimately you and your breath are your healer. My role as a Breathwork facilitator is simply to guide you and to be the compassionate witness during your Breathwork session. Despite this, there are certain factors that may hinder your experience.
Here are my top 4 recommendations to experience the full benefit of Breathwork -
Release expectations. Even though we will discuss your intention before you breathe, release any expectations about what will happen during your session. Every session is different, all you need to do is show up, breathe, and surrender to whatever unfolds.
Don’t force the exhalation. Keep your exhalation passive, a gentle release as you surrender to your process. Forcing the exhale can be a subconscious desire to bypass your emotions/process or to control your journey. As you breathe out, allow yourself to surrender to what is showing up, without trying to control or understand.
Don’t breathe too fast or too slow. Allow your body to find its own rhythm with the breath, both breathing too fast or slow is a way to either bypass or control your experience. Keep breathing, be kind to yourself and let go of any resistance.
Allow yourself to feel. As emotions show up, allow them too, lean into them and release any judgement of them. Emotions are energy in motion and need to be felt before they can be released. You need to feel it to heal it.
Know that you are fully seen and supported in your session and as you open yourself up to the breath – the magic will unfold. This work is cumulative, so with each session your body will allow and release with more and more ease.
